JAN GAN MAN ENGLISH SECONDARY SCHOOL
I. OVERVIEW
In compliance with the directive from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and as part of the national “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” campaign, Jan Gan Man English Secondary School observed Jal Pakhwada from 16th to 30th April 2026. The initiative focused on mobilizing students and the community toward sustainable water management and rainwater harvesting.
II. KEY OBJECTIVES
To instill a sense of responsibility toward water conservation among students and staff.
To educate stakeholders on the technical aspects of rainwater harvesting.
To foster community engagement through creative competitions and workshops.
III. SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED
Jal Shapath (The Water Pledge):
On the inaugural day (April 16th), a formal "Jal Shapath" was administered during the morning assembly. This practice continued daily throughout the Pakhwada to reinforce the commitment to "Catch the Rain" and minimize water wastage on campus.
SMC & PTA Workshops:
A special session was organized for the School Management Committee (SMC) and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The workshop highlighted practical methods for water conservation at the household level and integrated water literacy into the school’s academic curriculum.
Competitive Engagement:
The school hosted a series of "Jal Shakti" competitions at the cluster level:
Literary: Debates and Essay writing on the theme "Water: Our Shared Future."
Visual Arts: A massive "Jal Shakti Arts Panorama" including painting, poster design, and upcycled art projects using recycled materials.
Knowledge: A school-wide quiz focusing on local water bodies and conservation techniques.
Digital Advocacy & Visual Displays:
Awareness messages and winning debate points were published on the school’s official website. Additionally, a photographic exhibition was set up in the school lobby to showcase the institution's rainwater harvesting infrastructure.
IV. IMPACT AND CONCLUSION
The observation of Jal Pakhwada 2026 successfully transformed the school environment into a hub for environmental advocacy. Through these participatory activities, Jan Gan Man English Secondary School has empowered a new generation of "Jal Warriors" dedicated to securing a water-positive future for the nation.
